protecting god's children
The Protecting God’s Children program is the VIRTUS program aimed at protecting children from child sexual abuse. Protecting God’s Children is a 3-hour awareness session for adults in the faith community who interact with minors.
Participants are taught to identify situations that could leave a child vulnerable, the signs that a child may have experience abuse, the methods of sexual offenders and critical steps to help prevent abuse.

PGC IN THE EPARCHY
As our own Diocese, we operate our own Protecting God's Children workshop separate from the Archdiocese of Detroit. If you attended a PGC workshop at a Church in the Archdiocese of Detroit, your certification is still valid, but a copy of your certificate must be on file at the Bishop's Office on 25603 Berg Road, Southfield, MI 48033. If you attended a PGC workshop at a Church in the Chaldean Catholic Diocese of St. Thomas the Apostle, then your certificate is already on file at the Bishop's Office and you are all set!
For a list of PGC training dates in the Chaldean Church, visit our Diocese Website. It is recommended to sign up for a workshop in the Chaldean Church in order to prevent having to request, copy and submit your certificate from another Diocese. If you are unable to attend any of the workshops provided by the Chaldean Church, visit the Virtus Website to sign up for a PGC workshop; make sure to select Detroit, MI (Archdiocese).
If you need help with sending a copy of your certificate from another Diocese, feel free to contact the Bishop's Office at (248) 351-0440.
